Race for the Cure® is the world's biggest sporting event for women's health. It all began in 1983 when Nancy G. Brinker founded the American breast cancer organization Susan G. Komen after losing her sister to breast cancer. The first Race for the Cure in Dallas welcomed 800 participants and has since grown to over 140 cities around the world.
