What’s it all About

The Race for the Cure® is the world's largest and most successful education and fundraising breast cancer event ever created. ThinkPinkLux in collaboration with ThinkPinkEurope brings the Race for the Cure® to Luxembourg for the first time with the warm and wonderful support of the Ville d’Echternach and Echternach Youth Hostel.

The event is a non-competitive walk or run during which, all the participants celebrate life, show their support to survivors and remember the ones who are unfortunately no longer here. Getting out on the day, walking or running is the easy bit, harder is that participants are required to raise funds for projects in research, education or that directly support those with cancer.

Eighty percent of all funds raised will remain in Luxembourg and go towards our research projects at the Luxembourg Institute of Health. The remaining 20% will go to ThinkPinkEurope for a community project. It is widely accepted that early detection and prompt, effective treatment saves lives but there are huge differences in services in Europe, therefore, funding may be awarded to services to provide free breast cancer screening and diagnostic services in regions where they are lacking.

How it all works

our commitment to SUSTAINABILITY

We would like to be as environmentally friendly as possible so we will not be using bibs, balloons, single use plastics, disposables or chemical toilets.  Rubbish bins will be provided but we hope there will be very little in them.

Water will not be provided so please bring your own reusable bottle which can be refilled at the youth hostel. Drinks can also be purchased at the youth hostel or the café on the lake.

Public toilets are located around the lake and in the youth hostel.

An event t- shirt is included in the participation fee for those who register before Monday 14th October. However, if you do not want a T-shirt for environmental reasons that’s ok, we just ask that you wear a Pink T shirt or a previous ThinkPinkLux one.
