So, what’s Ladies Night all about ?

What started out with a Ladies Night in 2009 as a ladies only evening of fun with friends, music, dancing, and a show of solidarity for those with cancer and their friends, family and colleagues has become much more.

That first Ladies Night raised an incredible €13,500 most of which was donated to EuropaDonna for English publications. When a similar amount was raised in 2010, the development of ThinkPinkLux a.s.b.l as a not for profit organisation was set in motion.  We have continued the tradition of Ladies Night and this year we will celebrate our tenth anniversary on Friday 11 October, 2019.

ThinkPinkLux is was formally constituted in 2010 as a volunteer-driven organisation to support women and their families living in Luxembourg with cancer. ThinkPinkLux also raises awareness through various educational and outreach events and raises funds to support students carrying out cancer research in Luxembourg.

Over the past ten years ThinkPinkLux has provided scholarship funding for one PhD student (LBMCC) and more recently for a number of Masters students at Luxembourg Institute of Health in specific areas of cancer research. ThinkPinkLux has also published two editions of their practical guide to ‘Living in Luxembourg with Cancer’. So far some 2,000 copies have been published and provided free of charge to individuals, companies and medical centres. Probably, the biggest impact of ThinkPinkLux is in the area of supporting those with cancer through face to face group meetings or one on ones.

Over the past ten years ThinkPinkLux has seen enormous success thanks to the commitment and support of many people. hinkPinkLux asbl is run entirely by volunteers so we hope you agree this is quite an achievement.

Last year ThinkPinkLux asbl took a bold step and linked up with Think Pink Europe to facilitate the exchange of information and best practices on health care and research in Europe with the aim of reducing disparities in access to health care between European countries. As part of this collaboration, ThinkPinkLux and ThinkPink Europe will organise dedicated fund raising events (such as the forthcoming Race for the Cure on Sunday October 20th, 2019) in Luxembourg projects with 20% of funds raised going to ThinkPinkEurope for a community project to provide screening and diagnostic services in regions of the EU where they are lacking.
